The Maintain FM_DUPES window provides you information about the FM_DUPES folder, such as its location and its properties (number of files/folders and size on disk). The FM_DUPES folder is where FolderMatch moves duplicate files to (unless you choose another Removal Method). This window also allows you to restore an item and to empty the entire FM_DUPES folder if you wish to do so.
You can access this window from the Options menu on the Find Duplicates window.
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to go to the FM_DUPES window.
1.On the Start Page, perform a search for duplicates.
2.On the Find Duplicates window go to the Options menu
3.On the Options menu select the Maintain FM_DUPES Folder option
Properties
To view the FM_DUPES folder properties such as its location, size and file/folder counts, click on the Properties link. This will bring up the standard Windows Properties window.
Restore an item
To restore a file or folder (along with all of its contents), right-click on it and select the "Restore selected item" from the context menu. The program will move the item back to its original location. If a file with the same name already exists there, it will not be overwritten, a copy of the file will be made.
Empty FM_DUPES folder
Over time, the FM_DUPES folder might grow large and hold files that you no longer want to keep copies of. Once you are certain that it contains only files that you don't need, you may empty the folder. Click on the Empty FM_DUPES folder link on this window to do so. You can also right-click on the folder contents and select "Empty FM_DUPES folder" from the context menu. When you empty the FM_DUPES folder, the program moves the files to the Windows Recycle Bin. This is done as a further precaution so you can still retrieve a file if you determine later on that you need it. If your goal is to free up disk space, you can do so by emptying your Recycle Bin, which will permanently delete the contents.
Note that you need not use this window to empty the FM_DUPES folder. You can manually delete this folder and its contents using only Windows Explorer. You may delete the FM_DUPES folder. FolderMatch will create it anew, next time you remove duplicates to it.
