The Tray area on the Compare Files window appears in front of each comparison result pane. It's the gray strip that runs down the side of each pane.

 

 

This is where the program shows line numbers, bookmarks , and the current line indicator .

 

 

 

Note that the display of line numbers can be turned on or off in the Compare File options.
